Common Whirlpool Refrigerator Problems We Fix
Fridge Warming Up
Defrost heater, thermistor, or adaptive defrost control failure are the most common causes. Less often it's the condenser fan or a refrigerant issue. We test the defrost system first on every warm fridge call.
Ice Maker Not Working
Water inlet valve failure causes the vast majority of Whirlpool ice maker complaints. On French Door models with In-Door Ice, the ice maker module and auger motor are also common failure points.
Water Dispenser Not Working
Water inlet valve, water filter bypass, or dispenser control board. We test the water supply line first, then the valve, then the control circuit.
Freezer Cold but Fridge Warm
Usually a defrost system failure causing frost buildup that blocks airflow to the refrigerator section. The evaporator fan motor and damper control are also suspects. We test all three.
Loud Noises
Evaporator fan hitting frost accumulation creates a loud rattling. Condenser fan bearing failure produces a hum or rattle. Icemaker cycling sounds are often normal — we'll confirm which is which.
Control Board or Display Issues
Unresponsive controls or erratic temperature readings often trace to the main control board or a failed thermistor. We test the full circuit rather than replacing boards by guesswork.
