Whirlpool Oven & Range Repair — What We Cover
Whirlpool's range lineup covers all configurations: freestanding gas and electric, slide-in models for a built-in look, and both standard and True Convection ovens that use a third heating element and fan for even baking. The Accubake system maintains consistent oven temperature by calibrating the bake and broil elements together. Select models include an integrated temperature probe for precision roasting.
Chicago Star Appliance services all Whirlpool ovens and ranges across Chicago and the Northwest suburbs. Bake element and igniter failures are by far the most common calls — predictable repairs with parts we stock on the truck.
Common Whirlpool Oven & Range Problems We Fix
Oven Not Heating
Bake element burnout on electric ranges and igniter failure on gas ranges are the top two causes. Both parts are inexpensive, well-stocked for Whirlpool, and the replacement is straightforward. We test the element or igniter first to confirm before any parts are ordered.
Gas Burner Won't Light
A cracked or weak igniter, clogged burner ports, or a failed spark module. We clean the burner assembly first, then replace the igniter or spark module if cleaning doesn't resolve it.
Electric Surface Burner Not Working
A burned surface element or failed infinite switch. We test each component to determine which failed — often the switch, which controls the heat levels, rather than the element itself.
F Error Codes
Whirlpool ranges display F codes for specific faults — F2 is an overtemperature fault, F3 is an open oven temperature sensor, F7 is a stuck key. We decode the error and fix the actual cause, not just reset the display.
Oven Temperature Off
Accubake calibration drift or a failing oven temperature sensor (RTD probe) cause cooking results to vary from expected. We test oven temperature at multiple set points and replace the sensor or recalibrate as needed.
Self-Clean or Door Lock Issues
Door won't lock for self-clean, door stuck locked after cycle, or self-clean causes an F2 fault. Door latch assembly and thermal limiter are the typical components. We handle all Whirlpool door lock repairs.
