Maytag Washer Repair — What We Cover

Maytag's washer lineup is led by the Bravos series — high-efficiency top-loaders available with and without a center agitator. The Centennial models are value-tier top-loaders with a more traditional agitator design. Maytag also makes front-load washers with steam and PowerWash features. All run on the well-understood Whirlpool platform, which means parts are readily available and diagnosable.

Chicago Star Appliance repairs all Maytag washer models across Chicago and the Northwest suburbs. Agitator failures, bearing noise, and error codes are the top calls we get on Maytag washers — and we carry the most common parts for same-visit repairs.

Common Maytag Washer Problems We Fix

Washer Not Agitating or Spinning

Maytag top-loaders are workhorses, but the agitator dogs and lid switch wear out eventually. Common, easy to source, and a clean repair. On impeller models, a worn drive coupler or motor coupling is the typical culprit.

Washer Leaking Water

Door boot seals on front-loaders and pump hose connections on top-loaders are the usual suspects. Wear on the tub seal or water inlet valve can also cause leaking. Neither is a big job once isolated.

Loud During Spin (Bearing Noise)

A roaring or grinding noise during spin that gets worse over time usually means the drum bearing is worn. On Maytag front-loaders, bearing replacement is a significant but worthwhile repair.

F and E Error Codes

Maytag washers display F/E codes for specific failures — F5E2 is a door lock fault, F8E1 is a water supply issue, F0E2 is an overloaded drum. We read the code, trace the cause, and fix the component, not just reset the display.

Won't Start or Complete a Cycle

A failed lid switch (top-loaders), door latch (front-loaders), or main control board failure can all prevent a cycle from starting or finishing. We test each component in sequence.

Doesn't Drain Properly

A clogged pump filter, blocked drain hose, or failed drain pump motor causes standing water after a cycle. We clear the blockage and test the pump, replacing it only if needed.
