LG Dryer Repair — What We Cover
LG's dryer lineup covers DLGX gas and DLEX electric models, with features like Sensor Dry (moisture-based cycle end), TurboSteam for wrinkle removal, and EasyLoad reversible doors. The WashTower integrated units combine an LG washer and dryer in a single column — a different form factor with the same repair needs. Newer models include heat-pump dryers that recirculate air rather than venting — more energy-efficient, different internals.
Chicago Star Appliance repairs all LG dryer models across Chicago and the Northwest suburbs. Whether it's a heating failure, a drum noise, or a sensor issue, we carry LG dryer parts and have the diagnostic experience to close most calls in one visit.
Common LG Dryer Problems We Fix
Not Heating
On DLEX electric models, a burned-out heating element or blown thermal fuse is the most common cause. On DLGX gas models, a failed igniter or gas valve coil. Both are identified quickly and replaced on the first visit.
Takes Too Long to Dry
A clogged exhaust vent, failed moisture sensor, or reduced airflow from a blocked filter all extend dry times significantly. We test the full airflow path and sensor circuit to find the constraint.
Drum Not Spinning
A broken drive belt, worn drum rollers, or a failed idler pulley are all common LG dryer mechanical failures. We identify which component failed and replace it cleanly.
Squealing or Thumping Noise
Worn drum glides, a failing idler pulley, or deteriorated drum support rollers create noise that worsens over time. We replace the worn parts before they cause secondary damage.
Error Codes (tE1, tE3, dE1)
LG dryers use codes like tE1/tE3 for thermistor faults and dE1 for door switch issues. We trace each code to the specific component that failed rather than guessing at replacements.
Shuts Off Mid-Cycle
Overheating from a blocked vent, a failing thermal fuse, or a faulty moisture sensor can cause premature cycle end. We diagnose the root cause and fix it — not just reset the machine.
