KitchenAid Dryer Repair — What We Cover
KitchenAid dryers are offered in gas and electric configurations, in both top-load and front-load styles. Front-load models include Steam and Sanitize cycles and have drum capacities in the 7.0–8.0 cu ft range. All models use an Advanced Moisture Sensing system with multiple sensors to automatically end the cycle when clothes are dry. As with all Whirlpool-family products, parts are readily available and the platform is well understood.
Chicago Star Appliance services all KitchenAid dryers across Chicago and the Northwest suburbs. Thermal fuse failure, belt replacement, and drum roller wear are the top calls on KitchenAid dryers.
Common KitchenAid Dryer Problems We Fix
Dryer Not Heating
Blown thermal fuse on both gas and electric models. On electric KitchenAid dryers, a burned heating element is the next most common cause. On gas models, the igniter and gas valve coils are checked next. All are fast repairs with parts we carry.
Drum Not Spinning
A broken drive belt stops the drum from rotating while the motor continues to run. KitchenAid dryer belt replacement is a clean standard repair — we also replace the idler pulley as a pair since they typically wear together.
Takes Too Long to Dry
Lint-clogged exhaust vent is the most common cause. After confirming the vent is clear, we test the Advanced Moisture Sensing bars and the heating circuit for any degradation.
Loud Thumping or Squealing
Worn drum support rollers, a failing idler pulley, or worn drum glides cause noise that worsens with time. We replace the worn component and inspect the belt and drum for secondary wear.
Stops Before Clothes Are Dry
Thermal limiter tripping due to poor vent airflow, or failing moisture sensor strips, cut cycles short. We test both and clear the exhaust path as part of every truncated-cycle diagnosis.
Won't Start
Door switch, thermal fuse, or start switch. Door switch is the most common cause of a KitchenAid dryer that won't respond at all — it's a $15 part and a 20-minute repair.
