GE Range & Oven Repair — What We Cover
GE ranges cover all configurations across three tiers. Base GE models include reliable freestanding gas and electric ranges with self-clean ovens. GE Profile upgrades to smart connectivity via the SmartHQ app, air fry modes, and No-Preheat Air Fry with a dedicated convection fan. GE Café goes premium with commercial-style design, dual-fuel options, six-burner gas cooktops, and fully customizable hardware colors. All GE ovens use True European Convection on mid-tier and above models.
Chicago Star Appliance services all GE ranges and ovens across Chicago and the Northwest suburbs. Bake element failures, igniter replacement, and F-code diagnosis are the most frequent calls.
Common GE Oven & Range Problems We Fix
Oven Not Heating
Bake element on electric, igniter on gas — these are the two most common GE oven failures. The bake element is visible and testable right through the oven door. The igniter glows but may be too weak to open the gas valve. We test both precisely before ordering parts.
Gas Burner Won't Ignite
Cracked igniter, clogged burner ports, or a faulty spark module. We clean the burner assembly first — food debris clogs ports and disables burners far more often than component failure. If cleaning doesn't fix it, the igniter or spark module is next.
Electric Surface Element Not Working
A burned element, failed burner receptacle block, or faulty infinite switch. We test across the full circuit to determine which specific component failed rather than replacing parts by guesswork.
F Error Codes
GE ovens use F codes — F1 is a control board fault, F2 is oven overtemperature, F3 is an open temperature sensor. We identify the failing component from the code and repair the actual cause.
Convection Fan Not Working
GE Profile and Café True Convection models use a dedicated rear fan motor. If the fan doesn't spin during convection cycles, baking results are uneven. We test the fan motor and control separately.
Door Lock or Self-Clean Issues
Door won't lock for self-clean, or door stuck locked after the cycle. The door latch assembly and thermal limiter are the typical parts at fault. We handle all GE door lock and self-clean repair calls.
