Frigidaire Dryer Repair — What We Cover
Frigidaire dryers are available in gas and electric configurations across all three tiers. Base Frigidaire models cover standard and large-capacity drums with sensor dry. Frigidaire Gallery adds steam refresh cycles, multiple temperature settings, and smudge-proof finishes. Frigidaire Professional brings the premium stainless look with a larger drum capacity. All are built on the Electrolux dryer platform with a straightforward repair profile.
Chicago Star Appliance services all Frigidaire dryers across Chicago and the Northwest suburbs. Thermal fuse failure, belt replacement, and drum roller wear are the most frequent calls.
Common Frigidaire Dryer Problems We Fix
Dryer Not Heating
Blown thermal fuse is the most common cause on Frigidaire gas and electric dryers. On electric models, the heating element or thermal limiter are next in line. On gas models, we test the igniter and gas valve coil set. All are fast repairs with readily available parts.
Drum Not Spinning
A broken drive belt stops the drum while the motor continues to run. Frigidaire dryer belt replacement is a clean, routine repair — we replace the idler pulley at the same time since the two components wear together.
Takes Too Long to Dry
Clogged exhaust vent is the most common cause. If the vent is clear, we test the moisture sensor bars — they can fail or become coated with fabric softener residue and cause the dryer to cut the cycle short or run too long.
Loud Thumping or Squealing
Worn drum support rollers, idler pulley, or drum glides produce progressive noise. We identify the worn component and replace it before it leads to belt or drum damage.
Stops Mid-Cycle
Thermal limiter tripping from poor vent airflow, or a faulty moisture sensor cutting cycles short. We test both and confirm the vent is clear as part of every truncated-cycle diagnosis on Frigidaire dryers.
Won't Start
Door switch, thermal fuse, or start switch. The door switch is the most common single-component cause of a Frigidaire dryer that won't respond at all — inexpensive and fast to replace.
